Patient Care Technician (EKG/ECG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician) (PCT)

Description
This program will prepare a graduate to work as an entry-level patient care technician (PCT) in a clinic, hospital, rehabilitation centers, nursing home or long-term care facility, assist in medical examinations, performing electrocardiograms (ECG/EKGs), basic laboratory procedures, and phlebotomy. The course includes both theory and clinical training. This course is designed to meet the NHA and NYS Education Department curriculum requirements. The course will prepare graduates for NHA Professional Certification Exams – Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT). The course curriculum is approved by the NYS Education Department and by National Health Career Association (NHA).

This course is designed for those (men and women) looking for employment as Patient Care Technician (PCT). Patient Care Technicians (PCT) care for injured, physically and mentally ill, disabled or infirm patients in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living, physicians’ offices or long-term care facilities. They perform routine tasks under the supervision of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals in monitoring the patient’s condition and providing basic patient care. The PCT plays a vital role in the healthcare delivery team since they often have more direct patient contact than any other team member including doctors and nurses.
